What makes fresh ramial willow woodchip different?
Taking centre stage on our stand will be our Eco Ramial Chipped Willow Mulch, produced from the fresh, young branches of sustainably grown perennial willow crops here in the UK.
Unlike conventional woodchip made primarily from older trunks and a mix of different woody material, ramial chipped wood uses the younger, nutrient-rich parts of the tree. This creates a natural mulch that can help retain soil moisture, suppress weeds without chemicals and support healthy soil biology, while gradually feeding and protecting the soil as it breaks down.
Its homogeneous willow composition also means there is no soil-acidification effect to worry about, either.
For growers, landscapers and gardeners, it offers a natural way to create healthier conditions around living plants. For garden centres, nurseries and horticultural retailers, it also represents something increasingly valuable: a differentiated, sustainable and UK-grown product with a strong story behind it.

We’re also delighted to be welcoming Ben Raskin, Head of Horticulture and Agroforestry at the Soil Association and author of The Woodchip Handbook, to the Eco Crops stand. Across the two show days, Ben will be presenting a series of talks on the wonders of willow woodchip and the benefits of our Eco Ramial Chipped Willow Mulch.
The sessions will explore the many ways ramial willow woodchip can be used in horticulture, from supporting soil health and moisture retention to weed control and more sustainable approaches to growing.

Alongside our fresh ramial mulch, we’ll be showcasing our Eco Slow-Feeding Ramial Mulch, a pre-composted mulch that’s been matured like a fine whiskey to establish a stable humus packed with beneficial fungi, microbes and organic compounds.
